Old Town Hall and Orloj: frequently asked questions

Is this the official Old Town Hall website?

No. Prague Ticket Guide is an independent visitor guide. The official information is on the operator’s own site, prague.eu. We are not the operator, we do not run the Old Town Hall, and this is not the official site. The tickets featured here are sold by our partner Tiqets, a third party.

Do I need a ticket to see the astronomical clock?

You can see the Orloj from the square without a ticket: it is on the outside of the tower, on the south side. Tickets are for going up the tower; the historic interiors are visited on guided visits sold on site. The twelve apostles appear every hour.

What are the opening hours?

Every day from 9:00 to 20:00 from April to December and from 10:00 to 19:00 from January to March. The official site publishes no last-entry time.

What does the tower ticket cover?

The tower ticket on our tickets page covers the Old Town Hall tower, according to Tiqets. The lift, the historic hall, the underground, a live guide and an audio guide are not included. The listing gives about 40 minutes for the visit. Cancellation terms are stated on the card.

Are the historic interiors included?

Not in the tower-only ticket. According to the operator, the interiors (a chapel with a view of the apostles, representative halls and an underground level) are visited on guided visits sold on site on the day, with times published daily on the operator’s site. The operator says a private guided tour of the interiors and the tower takes about 90 minutes.

Which ticket or tour should I choose?

For the tower alone, the tower ticket is the simplest. If you want an introduction to the building and the clock, look at the clock-tower entry with a 20-minute introduction in English. If you prefer a guide, the walking tour that includes the clock tower runs for about three hours in several languages. The audio guide for the square is a self-guided walk and does not include entry to the clock tower. Read the cards for languages and meeting points.

Is the tower suitable for visitors with reduced mobility?

According to the official site, access to the tower is barrier-free for wheelchair users, with lifts. The historic interiors are not, and pushchairs are not accepted.
