Buy tickets →Trams stop at Újezd, where the lower funicular station is. PID lists trams 9, 12, 15, 20, 22 and 23 there in its timetables of 24 October 2026; lines change, so check the PID site. The funicular is the quickest way up when it is running: see the Opening hours page for its status.
When the funicular is closed, PID gives about half an hour on foot uphill from Újezd, with a climb of 130 m.
The operator’s page describes these routes: from the tram stop Pohořelec (tram 22) along Strahovská or Úvoz, a gentle climb; from the stops Koleje Strahov or Stadion Strahov, a level walk through the college complex and the Rose Garden; from Malostranské náměstí along Tržiště and Vlašská, a steep climb that is not maintained in winter; and from Újezd through the Seminary Garden, also steep and not maintained in winter. We have not measured walking times ourselves.
From Václav Havel Airport, the public transport operator lists trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín and then metro A (about 35 minutes), and bus 100 to Zličín and then metro B. From the main station take metro C to Muzeum and change to line A towards Nemocnice Motol; Malostranská is also a tram stop, with lines that include 12, 15, 20, 22 and 23, which also stop at Újezd (PID timetables). Check timetables on the PID site.
The operator’s page says that access by car is only with a permit.
